Melvyn Chuney

Melvin R. Chuney Jr. is the Russell-Woods-Sullivan Area Association (RWSAA) president. He was born and raised in Detroit, serving 27 years with the Detroit Police Department with the last 23 years with the 10th precinct. He worked as a neighborhood police officer, school officer (at Central High School and Durfee Middle School), community relations officer environmental/ blight officer and mini-station officer (at the Dexter-Elmhurst Center). For 20 years he was a law enforcement explorer coordinator/ advisor. He has been a resident homeowner in Russell Woods-Sullivan since 2013 and is a member of RWSAA Citizens Radio Patrol and is a former Association treasurer. Chuney is a member of the 10th Precinct Community Relations Council and has been a minister for 16 years, currently serving at New Testament Church where he teaches adult and youth Sunday school. He has five adult daughters and three grandchildren. He is family oriented, loves to serve God and to fellowship, help, and work with God’s people.

Treasurer

Clyde Jones

Clyde E. Jones Jr., treasurer of the Russell Woods-Sullivan Area Association and its immediate past president, was born in Detroit, growing up in Russell Woods-Sullivan and graduating from Cass Technical High School. He attended Wayne State University, Macomb College and Henry Ford College. He has been a paralegal, specializing in product liability and immigration. Jones has been a skilled trades machinist and is currently employed as an industrial electrician. He is married with two boys.
